Trekking in the 'flower arrangement' wild flower path, Jeongseon Baekunsan Hwajeolryeong

Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea

Walk the 10.2km 'Haneulgil' formed on Baekwoon Mountain, the back mountain of Jeongseon High1 Resort. It was called “Untan Road,” which was carrying coal during the booming period of coal, and it was also called “flower arthropod” because it hungered wild flowers such as rhododendrons when they were hungry and soothed their hunger. Another name, 'Hwajeolryeong', is a Chinese character name for 'flower fold'. The flowers bloom beautifully in Hwajeolryeong 'flower arrangement' today.
Baekwoon Mountain (1,426m) on the border between Sangdong-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, and Sabuk, Jeongseon-gun, and Gohan. There is a famous head on Mt. Baewoon, which means 'a mountain with white clouds.' In the days when the whole country was hungry, people had to pick up the flowers that bloomed in the mountains in order to cross the so-called barley head, which was higher than Baekwoon Mountain, where the clouds couldn't be caught. That's why the name 'Flower Arrangement' was attached to the pass. Nowadays, people who are full of food don't pick flowers anymore, but today, they enjoy a prosperous walk with their hearts on the wild flowers blooming on the hills.
I was an industrial warrior miner

The flower arthropod was the way to transport coal during the coal boom. That's why it is also called “Untan Road”. From 1948 to 2004, you need to stop by the “root tube” in order to feel the depth of the sweat and tears of those who risked their lives in 88 coal mines and underground yards in Jeongseon.

You can take a look at the history of Jeongseon's coal mine in the Root Pavilion and various stories of people who worked in the coal mine through data and restoration models. According to the data, more than 25,500 people lived in coal mines only in the North Korean region. It is said that 40,000 people surpassed the number of coal mining workers in various areas of Jeongseon-gun in addition to North Korea. The people who could form one municipality worked in the mine. However, in Jeongseon Valley, there was no place for many people to live. Although there was a house, two rooms, one kitchen, and a toilet were used in a common area of 5 to 6 pyeong. However, there were less than half of the workers who could move into the house. The rest of the workers had to live in three rooms, where one could lie down, or by living on a mountain.

Occupational diseases such as pneumoconiosis and silicosis were inevitable tags for those who had to work with stone powder and tan powder. The coal thus excavated went through the Untan Road to the world and became briquettes, heating our farts, boiling snacks in a silvido oven, and becoming the embers that warmed the dawn of the marketplace.

There is no proper public transportation from the Gohan Intercity Bus Station to the Gangwon Land Falls parking lot, the starting point of the walking course. Take a taxi from the Root Pavilion to the exhibition hall, and walk for about 1.3km to the waterfall parking lot.
Hwajeolryeong-gil is a mountain trail, but not a forest trail
There is also a coal relic exhibition center in the middle of the road. At the beginning of the uphill pavement in front of the waterfall parking lot, you can see the signpost of 'Haneulgil'. This is a trekking course from High1 Resort to Kkotjaejae.
The road was still black because it was carrying coal.
As you climb the uphill road along the milestone, the pavement ends and a stone road appears. Walk the stone path, dirt road. The road is wide and the surroundings are all green.
A facility that collects coal mine leachate and filters it
There is an uphill, but the road is wide and the slope is not severe, so you can walk without difficulty. Moreover, as I walk watching the wild flowers blooming along the side of the road, I can feel the sweat flowing on my forehead.
Forest path is good to walk everywhere
At the point about 4 km from the entrance, you can see the place where the larch tree was formed. In the forest, there is a ‘Doronyi Pond’.
Poetry of <Azalea Flowers> by poet Kim So-wol on Hwajeolryeong-gil
Dorongi Pond is a pond formed by a coal mine tunnel descending due to subsidence in the 1970s. Since the salamander lives, it is called the salamander pond.
Larch is thick and the forest looks deep.
After the pond was formed, the miners' wives visited the Salamander pond and prayed that their husband would be healthy without an accident. This pond is a spring for mountain beasts, and in spring, salamanders lay eggs.

The pond located at 1,100m above sea level cannot be easily found, but the larch, lush bamboo, and wildflowers around the pond create a mysterious landscape.

Dorong leaves the pond and goes back on the big road. Since I walked about 4km, I only need to walk 6km more.
Insects gather on flowers that bloom on Hwajeolryeong-gil
The sun is hot, but the altitude is high, so it is cool and sweaty because it crosses the green forest. There are many types of flowers on the roadside, and the shapes are beautiful.

The flowers bloomed today as well as the story of the road that passed over by picking flowers.

If you keep your eyes on the flowers for a long time, the time will be delayed, but your heart is in a hurry.

Bees, butterflies, and all kinds of insects that live with flowers do not know how to move on the petals. Even if you hold the camera, it does not fly.

A single path engraved in the blue forest sea
The mind brightens on the road with flowers. If you meet a beautiful flower that you can't keep in mind and want to see on the camera for a long time, just take a rest there. The road with tree shades can be cool. When you meet a place with a wide view, you can enjoy a cool view of your heart. Although there is no water stream like a valley, it is clear, but the clear air and beautiful scenery replace it. It feels like washing away the grime inside your body as you breathe in and breathe on a quiet mountain trail, and the blue energy of life comes out.
Larch section of exotic scenery
Now the larch road comes out. Larch is enough to create an exotic landscape. After passing the larch road, about a third of the 10km section remains.

Hwajeolryeong trekking course If you walk 10km, you can see the mountain path to the summit of Mt. Baekwoon. The arrival point is High1 Resort Golf Course. Car users who park their car in the waterfall parking lot can take the shuttle bus from the High1 Hotel lobby in the golf course to the Gangwon Land Hotel and get off the Gangwon Land Hotel and walk to the parking lot. Shuttle buses travel about one hour per hour.
