Tour of Jeju's 4th and 3rd historic sites that left in brilliant spring

Jeju City, Jeju, Korea

In spring, bright April, this time of year, the island gets wet with silent pain. This is because it has a sad history hidden behind a bright pile of flowers, and Jeju 4/3 incidents. This year, the Jeju 4th and 3rd event celebrated its 71st anniversary. One day when it rained, I followed the flying petals and searched for traces of the time. Even in the field where rape blossoms are scattered, and in the white waves of the sea, there are still unscathed wounds wherever the petals touch.
Jeju 4/3 Peace Park, where you learn and know Jeju 4/3
I don't know if there are people who remember. It's an old old drama story. The drama <The Eye of the Dawn> that I watched while I was young. One of the scenes I still remember is the burning of thatched houses and soldiers dragging people randomly. At that time, I didn't know that it was Jeju Island. I didn't even know if the scene showed Jeju 4/3 event (Jeju 4/3).
Before I left the road, I remembered the moment. If there is something that has not changed as a child or now, I still do not know the history of Jeju 4/3. As the first course, I visited Jeju 4/3 Peace Park. Bonggae-dong hillside where Hallasan was cast like a shadow in the distance, and the Jeju 4/3 Peace Park is a space to remember the Jeju 4/3 and remember the victims. There are several facilities on the grounds, such as the 4.3 Peace Memorial Hall, the Memorial Hall, each monument, and the Wipeongbongso. On the 3rd of April every year, the “Jeju 4/3 victims' memorial service” is held here.
A space to remember the Jeju 4/3 incident and commemorate the victim
When we entered the 4th and 3rd Peace Memorial Hall, Baekbi (a monument without inscription) met us silently. A pure stone monument with nothing written on it. In front of the lying Baekbi, there is a slab with the phrase, “One day, I will engrave the name of Jeju 4 · 3 and raise it up”. As I quietly woke up alone, I feel like one of my breasts is getting eaten.
Baekbi in the shape of the Jeju 4/3 incident
After passing by Baekbi, the story of Jeju Island, which has been in pain for many years, can be heard. Each exhibition hall divided into several themes describes in detail the background, cause, and process of Jeju 4/3. Many people who have died without knowing English because of the vortex of ideology after liberation, and the heartbreaking history that has been forced into silence for many years, are still alive and breathing here. Many people do not know yet, so the history is sadder. Jeju 4 · 3 is like a puzzle piece lost in modern Korean history.
Refuge of people who escaped to the winter mountains to avoid the subjugation
The exhibition hall arranged Jeju 4 and 3 events over the years from April 3, 1948 to 1954, which lifted the Hallasan Geumjoryeong Order in chronological order. Thanks to this, it is easy to understand even those who are new to Jeju 4 · 3 history. During this period, more than 30,000 Jeju Islanders were reportedly lost and missing. The exhibition tells the stories of the villages in the middle-mountainous area that have been burned down, and the people who have lost their lives have to hide into the mountains and caves.
The Jeju 4 · 3 case materials are exhibited in full.
Exit the memorial hall and breathe in the fresh air to catch the heavy heart. Inside the park, where spring greens are swelling, it is very calm and calm to match the word “peace”. After a moment of meditation, I stepped toward the hill and soon reached the tower. Each monument surrounds the tower of Yuryong that stretches out into a clear sky.
The monuments that continued endlessly around the memorial tower
The name, gender, age, and date of death of the victims of each village are engraved on each monument. More than 20,000 names written here. Those who have passed down countless times on top of the monuments that endlessly endlessly overlap, and sad grief comes again.
Some of the victims are babies and girls who are only four years old.
At the top of the park, there is a wispy peak ensemble built to comfort the victims' souls and a missing sign. There are about 14,000 victims enshrined in the Vietongbongansil, and can be commemorated from 9 am to 6 pm. I was thinking about preparing a chrysanthemum for Hwahwa.

Many victims of Jeju 4 · 3 were missing or could not find their bodies. This is because most of those arrested in Jeju Island on April 3 and sent to prison on land were shot and buried during the Korean War. How many have died and have not been able to lie down comfortably. As I watched the thousands of milestones that colored the green grassland black, tears flowed without my knowledge.

Bukchon Nerve Monkey 4/3 Memorial Hall
Bukchon-ri, a small seaside town, is a 30-minute drive from Jeju 4/3 Peace Park. When I visited this village, the old cedar tree standing at the mouth of the village was very impressive.
Bukchon 4th and 3rd Memorial Hall
Bukchon Village, where the whole town is celebrated every night on New Year's Eve every year, has the pain of over 350 residents being shot by soldiers on the same day. Bukchon's 4th and 3rd Memorial Hall records the details of the day. The tearful testimonies of the survivors still look back at the wounds of those who have not healed.

Outside the memorial hall, the pains of the past are still standing. Stone graves of young children remain in the place where the shooting occurred, and literary monuments and monuments of “Uncle Soon-I”, which depicts the bodies being scattered, lay all over the place.

Tomb of little children left in the form of a pile
'Uncle Soon-I' by Jeju novelist Hyun Ki-young is based on the case of Bukchon-ri. Through this, Jeju 4/3, which was taboo, became known to the world little by little.
There is a literary monument to Uncle Hyun Ki-young's short story, Uncle Suni.
Cherry blossoms bloom brilliantly as I look towards the Memorial Tower. The blue sea that flowed over the memorial tower was spreading asrai, giving comfort to my heart. I pressed my painful chest and quietly left Bukchon Village.

One tomb buried by different ancestors, the site of the slaughter of six grains
At the edge of the Altre Airfield in southwestern Jeju, there are six grains. It is the site of a crushing slaughter that has arrived for a long time as if you were driving in a wild field. It is a place where people arrested in the preliminary arrest during the Korean War were collectively executed. At that time, those who were randomly caught and dragged were said to have left traces of themselves by throwing rubber-like belongings on the roadside in a truck that seemed to foresee the coming death.

The massacre surrounded by iron bars at the back of the memorial monument felt gloomy for some reason despite the sunlight. The two puddle seemed to go out into the ground. Spring flowers bloomed even on the heartless land that took many lives. Rapeseed flowers swaying along the wind felt sad, the soul of the victims.

“There is no one who has sinned / only the innocent is buried / white thirty two, the bones are entangled / one descendant comes.”
-The poet Ko Sung-gi is in the midst of commemorating the monumental cost
Entrance to Swanjo-ji Temple
Most of the victims of the grain were placed in nearby graveyards. Swanjoson Sonjimyo (百 묘 一 孫 之 墓), 132 different ancestors died at one place at a time, and the bones became tangled together, meaning that all of their descendants are now one descendant. In the past, it was called Baekjo Il Sonji (百 祖 一 孫 之 地). Due to the entrance control of the massacre to hide the incident, the survivors were unable to visit the body after several years. However, the bodies were already rotten and entangled, and eventually they had to saddle the 132 bodies with the skull, arms, and leg bones in place.

Where else is this sad story? The wounds left by the Jeju 4/3 incident were deeper and darker than I thought. On the way back from the mausoleum, a spicy garlic scent that stuck in the tip of the nose stuck deep into my heart.

Traces of Jeju 4/3 seen from travel destinations, Gwangchigi Beach's open-air trees & Darangshgul
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is one of the most famous spots for sunrise. Here, you can see traces of Jeju 4/3. This place, formerly known as 'Turjinmok', is a place where roads were repeatedly connected and cut off by land in the past.
Seongsan Ilchulbong can be seen clearly from the popped tree
It is said that many people in Seongsan-myeon were sacrificed during the Jeju 4/3 period. Now the son-in-law is still and peaceful as if it had happened. It seemed that he was struggling not to forget the memory of only the space comforting the souls becoming dull. If you stop by Gwangchigi Beach, take a moment of silence.
The exploded tree at Gwangchigi Beach, the site of Jeju 4/3
About 20 minutes by car from Seongsan Ilchulbong is Darangsioreum, which many tourists visit. It is said that there was a village of Daranche, which originated more than 100 years under the ascension, but all burned down during Jeju 4/3, and now only lush bamboo forests have a glimpse of the trace.
The site where Darangshgul was found
At the end of the road, which leads to a secluded trail on the road, there is the site of the Darangshgul. While running in dusty dust, the victims of Jeju 4/3 were found in the cave about a decade ago, and the news that caused shock and pain was dimly remembered. The Dalangshgul was a refuge for the residents of nearby Sehwa-ri and Jong-dal. The entrance to the oyster is now blocked.
Even the entrance is narrow and rugged
I recalled the inside of the cave seen from the Jeju 4 · 3 Peace Park Special Exhibition Hall. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't imagine the escape life in a narrow and steep cave. Their hearts are throbbing and crying just as they would have been desperate.

Darangsi Oreum, which would have been watched silently all the time, is still imposing and generous. As the new skin revives even in deep wounds, I sincerely hope that this spring and all the coming springs of Jeju will shine brightly.
