'Secret Garden', blooming wild flowers of the four seasons, Geoje Sanbangsan Biwon

Geoje-si, Gyeongnam, Korea

Geoje is not the only place to visit in the sea and mugu. There is a secret 'Secret Garden' at the foot of Mt. Sanbangsan Biwon, located in Dundeok-myeon, is a paradise and a secret garden for trees with various wildflowers and rare plants in the forest.

Geoje's round road, which runs around the island, is full of autumn sea scent. Lonely muzzles appear and disappear as if they are self-exciting, urging the way. Sanbangsan Biwon, a distinctive place for flowers and trees, slowly becomes outlined after passing through the cultural village where the poet Yu Chi-hwan was born. Sanbangsan, which boasted rocks like muscles, naturally becomes a milestone toward Biwon.
Entrance to Sanbangsan Biwon
Sanbangsan Biwon is an inviting flower garden where waterfalls and valleys flow and over 1,000 wild flowers bloom in different seasons. Unlike arboretums near the city center, in the morning, it is wrapped in a cloud that winds around Sanbangsan Mountain, and freshwater fish such as crawfish, catfish, and carp swim in the valley flowing from the jade cave.
Wildflowers showing off the four seasons
In summer, you can witness the appearance of fireflies along with the sound of the frogs, and enjoy the autumn of Geoje at the dance site of the silver grass that adorns the path of the arboretum.
Flowers on the promenade
A flower garden that embraces Geoje's natural ecology
Wild flowers and trees are the most valuable decoration of the 99,000 square meter garden. You can enjoy seasonal flowers such as wild leek flowers, rocky rice cakes, red indongcho vines, and barberry claws, and various bonsai trees that have passed through the years. It is no exaggeration to say that most wild flowers native to Geoje are gathered here.
Sanbangsan Mountain View
During the period of complete fall, flowers, autumn leaves, and silver grass blend in a strange way. There are kind signs on the trail in Biwon, but you can get lost here for a while. You can remain alone on a quiet path and get drunk in the harmony created by forests and mountains. There are wooden benches and pavilions all over the place to help calm reflection.
Biwon Waterfall
Sanbangsan Biwon was opened in 2007. Director Deok-Hoon Kim laid the site at the foot of Sanbangsan Mountain and devoted himself to cleaning the field and planting wildflowers for over 10 years and released it to the public. Biwon, who entered the rugged tuna paddy field at the foot of the mountain, can see the trace of trying to keep the natural appearance by excluding human touch as much as possible. Instead of a convenient cement road, it shows an ecological park with slopes, dirt roads, and valleys.
Solongus Fountain
Promenade connecting over 20 themed spaces
In Biwon, there are about 20 themed spaces along the promenade, including aquatic plant communities, waterfall observatory, hydrangea road, and Solongus fountain, centered on grass and dolmen squares. When you enter Biwon and take the road to the right, the Aura Exhibition Hall first appears. It is an indoor space where you can appreciate colorful wildflowers. After passing through the huge stone graves, the dolmen square and the bonsai garden, it leads to a secret waterfall with a secret garden. On top of the waterfall, the wormwood worms form a colony, and on the side of the waterfall, through which the valley flows, bibichu colonies and aquatic flora colonies continue naturally.
The exotic-style main building encompasses a wildflower exhibition and restaurant. It is also worth taking a break from your tired legs here and looking down on the panoramic view of Biwon. Solongus Fountain is the main attraction of walking around Sanbangsan Biwon, which takes only 2-3 hours. The Solongus Fountain, meaning `` rainbow floating pond, '' combines water, flowers, trees, and mountains to create a picturesque landscape.
Wild flowers blooming in the garden
Sanbangsan Biwon also has a guest house facility called Sehangok Suwon, a thatched lodge. It is good to stay overnight in the forest and feel the secret scent of flowers and trees. The name ‘Sehan’ was borrowed from Chusa Kim ’s ‘Sehando’.
Sehangok Suwon

In the vicinity of Sanbangsan Biwon, there are many attractions to see together. In addition to the birthplace of Yuchi-hwan, Cheongma, one of Goryeo's Uijong was located in the ruins of Wangwangseong, and it is also possible to enjoy the botanical garden and mountain climbing. When you climb Sanbangsan, you can see the sea of Geoje at a glance. The prison camp camp and Geoga Bridge are also worth seeing. The Geoje Concentration Camp Relics Park in downtown Geoje received the communist forces that had been captured by the UN during the Korean War, and some of the prison camp buildings remain. At that time, it exhibited vivid materials and records of the prisoners' lives, barracks, and clothing.
It is also exciting to run to Geoga Bridge, which became the new specialty of Geoje. Opened in December 2010, Geoga Bridge is a bridge connecting Geoje and Busan Gadeokdo. When you cross the bridge that connects the islands, you get into the thrill of running through the middle of the blue sea of Hallyeohaesang National Park. On the way to Jangmok-myeon Yuho Breakwater, there is a hidden point where you can enjoy a quiet view of the bridge without crossing the Geoga Bridge.
