Samcheok, Gangwon-do, the hidden gem of the East Sea. From the coastal view of Jangho Port, climb a transparent canoe and swim the sea with its bottom exposed. The beach, where you can enjoy the ocean rail bike running through the picturesque East Sea seascape and plunge at any time, is a playground for all kids who love water. Here's a romantic overnight stay at a resort that seems to come to Santorini, Greece. The journey continues to the east coast of Jicheok. If you soak your feet in the cold valley waters of the Mureung Valley through the Chuam Candlestick Rock, one of the famous sunrise spots in the East Sea, and the Chungok Cave in the middle of downtown, with a history of 500 million years, I would like to say, 'This is happiness! The trip to Donghae and Samcheok in Gangwon-do is perfect for making blue memories with a child on a summer day.
"The hips are floating in the sea!", A transparent canoe experience
Samcheok Jangho Village, called Naples in Korea, is famous for its 'transparent canoe experience' because the coastline is superb. As a village famous for fishing villages, family-level outings line up for the experience from the entrance of the village in Seongsugi-myeon in summer.
Canoe Boarding Waiting Place
In Jangho Fishing Village, transparent canoes are definitely popular. You can freely swim in the buoy until the breakwater with the dune bridge (cloud bridge) in between. The place is shallow, the waves are calm, and the terrain itself is a natural windshield, making it suitable for canoeing. All infants and toddlers of all ages can ride with the guardian. However, due to the nature of the canoe, you must ride while balancing both sides.
Life jackets prepared by size
The child wears a life jacket and sits on a canoe with a transparent bottom, and says, "Mom, the sea is floating on my ass!" Adults can feel the thrill as they look into the ocean.
2-seater transparent canoe experience
Paddles should be paddled so that the canoe does not tilt to one side. If you are going through a canoeing experience, it is good to get wet and prepare extra clothes.
Canoe experience where balancing is important
Canoes are available on weekends from May and operate daily from July to September without holidays. However, because it is affected by the weather, it is essential to inquire by phone on the day of the experience or the day before.
Overpass and Dundaeam
The cool East Sea view from Dundaeam, close to the canoeing experience, is also a gem.
View from the top of Dundaeam
There are some steep trails that require attention from guardians.
Jangho Village Bridge
Running the sea, Samcheok offshore rail bike
Samcheok Offshore Rail Bike (Yonghwa Station), located 3 minutes away by car from Jangho Village, is Samcheok's representative tourist destination selected as a Korean tourism star in 2014. Rail Bike runs 5.4 km between Yonghwa Station and Gungchon Station by double track, and you will be impressed by the surrounding scenery of the railroad that runs along the coastline of the East Sea all the way through the rail bike.
Photo zone around offshore rail bike
When you get on a rail bike, you have to think hard about the gap with the leading bike, and step hard. If a pregnant woman or an infant is on board, the rearmost bike may be assigned in consideration of the risk of collision, so please ask the safety personnel in advance. When riding with a child, care must be taken to prevent the chain from getting caught in the hands and feet between the rotating parts, wheels, and rails.
Mysterious tunnel
The uphill section is electric, so you can enjoy the surrounding scenery without much difficulty. Gomsol and gigantic rocks in the East Sea delight the eyes. In the section, there are three tunnels with the theme of 'festival', 'mystery', and 'heroic hero Hwang Young-jo'.
Laser show section
As you walk through the tunnel of illusion created by Luminarie and the laser show, you feel like you are traveling through a mysterious submarine tunnel, because there is a section of 'Hwang Young-jo, the hero of Montjuic' because Samchok Chogok Port is the hometown of Marathoner Hwang Young-jo.

Stop at Chogok Rest Area, the middle stop, for about 10 minutes. They sell simple food at rest areas. If you run out of energy while stepping on the lungs, you can easily replenish it here.
Chogok Rest Area
Departure may be from Yonghwa Station or Gungchon Station, depending on the travel route. Free shuttle buses run from each station, so you can easily go back to your starting point.
Chogok Rest Area
The time required for offshore rail bikes is about one hour, and on the fourth Wednesday of each month, the rail bike is not operated on the day of safety inspection. It runs five times a day at two-hour intervals from 9:00 a.m., which is popular, so reservation is required. It runs from 7pm on weekends and holidays from April to October.

Romantic day at Sol Beach Resort, Santorini, Samcheok
Samcheok Sol Beach Resort & Hotel, meaning the beach of the sun, is recommended for children. It is a perfect place to spend all day with children, as there are beaches dedicated to Sol Beach, promenades in the resort, Santorini Plaza, restaurants, various amenities, and water parks. As it is, in the peak season, there is some inconvenience in that it is difficult to make a reservation. If you have a vacation plan in Samcheok, you should hurry up.
Sol Beach Resort
When you enter the resort, the harmony of white exterior walls and blue roofs catches your eye. Just visit the Greek Cycladic architecture and feel like you have left for a distant country.
Santorini square night view
Even if you don't have to stay, you can freely use the Santorini Square or other facilities, so it's worth taking a look around. Especially at night, beautiful lighting is added to give an exotic scenery.

If you're with an infant or toddler, try Samcheok Aqua World, a 'four season water park'.
Aquaworld outdoor swimming pool
Family showers and play facilities are well-equipped for families of young children.

In addition, there are all convenience facilities such as coin laundry, so you can purchase most items even if you missed the necessary travel preparations for your child.

Chuam Candlestick Rock with Chuam Beach
The Chuam Beach in Donghae City, viewed from Sol Beach Resort, is a 150 m long white sandy beach with shallow water depth, making it a good family resort. Above all, this place has a candlestick rock that serves as the background for the first national video of the national anthem that begins with 'Donghaemul and Baekdusanyi' at the start of television broadcasting.
Candlestick rock trails
It is also famous as the first sunrise spot in Korea. The coastal cliffs around the candlestick rock and the large and small rocky islands combine with the sea to create a spectacular view.
Chuam Candlestick Rock
It is also a good idea to leave a memorable family photo with your child in the background of the candlestick rock.
Candlestick rock trails

Ducks and geese are common sights around Chuam Beach. You can follow people or go close and take pictures. Occasionally, children are ringing in a noisy bucket, but ducks and geese are also a wonder in their eyes.

The mysterious underground world hidden in the city center
Cheongok Natural Cave is a natural cave opened to the public in 1996 after being discovered for the first time during the construction of an apartment in 1991.
Required helmets before entry
It is the only city in the city with good accessibility, and you can observe stone pillars and stalagmites created 500 million years ago. The height of the cave is low, so wearing a helmet is essential before entering.
Cheongok Cave Entrance
The total length of the cave was 1.5km, and a viewing path was created up to 800m. If you go down the ferris wheel, you can meet the mysterious cave world. You can see the stone pillars created by the meeting of stalagmites and stalactites, ornamental stalactites, and ceiling dragons. In addition, it is fun to look up the names of chandeliers, such as Jongyu-seok, Lee Chung-mu's statue, Piano statue, Bat-jong-yu-seok, and black hole.
Inside the cave
It is advisable to hold the child's hand as the interior lighting of the cave is dark, so be careful not to lose your foot when watching. There may be some water on the bottom of the cave, so it may get wet.
Samsil Shindang
The Chungok Cave is also famous for its golden bat habitat. The golden bat is a natural monument with a red body color and a golden color. It is a rare wild animal designated by the Ministry of Environment as No. 1 because of its small population worldwide. Unfortunately, the golden bat is nocturnal, so the chances of seeing the golden bat during viewing are extremely low.
Inside the cave, maintaining an average of 10 °
In particular, the inside of the cave is cool enough to feel cool even in hot summer, making it a perfect summer resort. It is smaller than Samcheok's well-known Hwanseon Cave and Daegeum Cave.

Mureung Valley
Let's go to the Mureung Rock at the beginning of the Mureung Valley in the East Sea, one of the best summer resorts in the East Sea. After walking through the forest road for about 5 minutes after the ticket is purchased at the Mureung Valley Myeongsungji Management Office, the 1,500-pyeong Mureung Rock appears. It is wide enough to seat 2,000 people at a time. The shape of the rock formations reminds me of Mureungdowon. Located between Dootasan and Cheongoksan, the Mureung Valley starts at the Hoamso downstream and reaches the Yongchu Falls about 4km upstream.
Mausoleum rock
It has been known as Korea's representative tourist destination, including National Tourist Site 1, Myeongseung 37, and 100 beautiful rivers in Korea. In the Mureung Valley, there are large and small stone carvings engraved by famous writers and spectators.
Mureung Valley Mureung Rock
The valley boasts beautiful scenery from Mureung Rock, past Samhwasa Temple, Haksodae University, Okryu-dong, and Seonnyeotang, to Ssangpok Falls and Yongchu Falls. If you are traveling with infants and young children, the course to Samhwasa is suitable.
Mureung Valley Forest Road
When you soak your feet in a valley with a child, the caregiver needs extra attention, no matter how shallow it is. This is because there is a lot of water moss everywhere and it is easy to slip.
The way down the valley after playing in the water. You may also encounter squirrels eating jujube or small fruit that hikers have given you. You can feel that this place is a clean nature by seeing that children do not avoid it even when approaching. If you have time, you can stop by Samhwasa.
Squirrel in Wuling Valley
If you go out by playing in the water at Mureung Rock, I recommend Jang Kalguksu, which fills your hunger and warmly protects your speed.
Samcheok Jang Kalguksu
Jangkalguksu is said to be a local food in Gangwon-do that is seasoned with red pepper paste and miso. Unlike the kalguksu that we have seen in general, the broth is red, but it is not overly irritating, and it is suitable for casual enjoyment due to its kalkalham and savory taste.
