Hadong Wild Tea Culture Festival, full of fragrance, green wave following spring flowers, temptation of 'Green Tea of King'

Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam, Korea

From May 19th to 22th, the king's green tea! The 22nd Hadong Wild Tea Culture Festival will be held under the theme of Hadong, a place with a thousand years of incense and fashion. Before the festival began, we decided to catch the end of the spring and take a look at Hadong's wild tea gardens along the Seomjin River.
If there is green tea in Boseong, Jeonnam, there is wild tea in Hadong, Gyeongnam. Hadong wild tea is a specialized crop of which 2,000 farms in Hwagae and Akyang-myeon earn 18 billion won annually. The tea plantation area is over 1000ha (10 million㎡, about 3 million pyeong). Hwagae-myeon is close to Seomjin River, so it is foggy, humid, and has a great environment for growing tea trees at large crossroads. Is that so? Hadong is a tea field in the land where tea cultivation has been recorded since the Silla era.
Hadong's Green Wave Announces Summer Beginning
Hadong Wild Tea Culture Festival is famous for its tea-themed tea culture festival. ‘하동’ will remind you of Seomjin River in springtime, but you will encounter a new face of Hadong through this festival.

As the theme of this trip is 'Hadong's wild car', we have designed a tour route around Hadong's tea culture sites. The main stage of the festival, Hwagae Market, Ssanggyesa Tea Market, and Hadong Wild Tea Museum will be visited.

First, let's go to Hwagae Market. In spring, Cho Young Nam's <Hwagae Market> flows out when you enter the Hwagae Market where plum flowers and cherry blossoms scatter around the Seomjin River.

“Across the Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do / along the stems of the Seomjin River, Hwagae Marketplace / Lower Town Hadong People Upper Village Gurye-gun / Combined every five days. There is nothing there. … (syncopation)… … . ”

Listening to the lyrical lyrics of a cheerful melody, the reporter who grew up in Seoul misses her hometown. It's a heartwarming memory of my childhood. It's simple now, but Hwagae Market has grown into a national market since it opened the gates of Seomjin River. Hwagae Market in the 21st century welcomes people in a simpler way than they thought. Even now, various herbs and herbs from Jiri Mountain are the main menu. Oh, even though it's the end, you can also enjoy cherry oysters, which are the estuaries of the Sumjin River. It's been renovated in 2014, but the boom of good times is gone. Only Hwagaejang's historical monument guards the marketplace, whispering the disappointment of the old marketplace.

If you run about 12km from Hwagae Market, you will reach Ssanggyesa Temple. The legendary Ssanggyesa Temple, Siri-ri Cherry Blossom Trail, is said to be harmful if the lovers walk together. Thanks to the spring rains, Hwagae Marketplace at the foot of the Seomjin River, Maehwa Village across the river, and Ssanggyesa Temple are suffering from the seasons. But the main character of this trip is wild car.

“Our country's tea culture started right here, at the foot of Jirisan Mountain. King Kim Dae-seol, who went to China from Tang Dynasty for three years (828 years), brought tea seeds, and the king planted them on Jirisan, according to Samguk Sagi. Ssanggyesa Temple Jangjukjeon became a valuable cultural heritage as it was the first place where tea was grown in Korea. … (syncopation)… The Hadong Wild Tea Culture Festival, which announces that this is the home of Korean tea, will be held around May 25, the annual tea day. ”

This is the explanation written in front of Ssanggyesa Temple. On the tea cultivation site, along with wild tea grown as tall as adult height, Kim Dae-hyolgong's tea cultivation, which is known as Korea's oldest tea plantation, was established in 1981, the cover sheet (in 1992), and Ssangggye-sa was built to spread the tea culture. Cheon-beom-san Chuang-bi (established in 2005) is a good place to stay. Don't miss the anti-aircraft anti-aircraft pagoda (National Treasure No. 47) written by King Choi Chi-won, a teacher who resides in Ssanggyesa Temple. The inscription contains a record of Silla's tea life, such as 'Powder tea, boil and drink' or 'Tagaro' was used.

Hadong's wild tea, which grew from the dew of Jirisan, has a nickname, 'King's Green Tea'. Once you have a feel for wild tea, go to the Hadong Culture Center.

In addition to answering questions about wild tea, tea making experiences such as tea picking and tea picking can be made.
