Gochang Up and Down Farm, Rustic Enjoyment with Honest Food

Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, Korea

Different forms of happiness are pursued by people, but the essence is the same. Breathe in the fresh air, eat innocent food, and keep your mind and body healthy. Occasionally, if you feel that little happiness far away, go to Gochang, North Jeolla Province. There is an up and down farm where there is a workshop where you can see healthy food made with reliable ingredients, food production process and various experience programs.
'Build, Play, Eat', The Values of Up and Down Farms
The word well-being that has come in and out of us. It is now a powerful motto that cannot be separated from our lives. It means that people's attention is focused on purifying the body and pursuing peace of mind beyond eating well and living well. The most responsive to these changes is the food market. Super farms such as lentil beans and aronia are popular as well as simple farm meals.

The reason for the existence of Gochang Up and Down Farm is in line with the above flow. It opened in April with the intention of informing the importance of food. The slogan of 'build, play, eat' was also suggested as 'a place where everyone enjoys together by making honest and right food'. Sangha Farm is now attracting the attention of family travelers as it has become an experiential healing healing destination that leads the future of Korean rural areas.

When you enter the farm through the ticket office, you will first notice the environment designed according to the natural order. Not long after its opening, some buildings are still under construction, but if you look at what has been built so far, you can see that nothing has been built. In particular, the man-made swale (dented terrain) is impressive. Called a rainwater garden, the swale prevents bad phenomena, such as flooding caused by artificial pavement of dirt, and helps the garden to be more effective by using the time the rainwater has stayed. If a rainwater garden plays a role in returning rainwater to nature, there is a place where rainwater is collected like a reservoir. The stored rainwater is purified and recycled into toilet water, which saves both water and money. As soon as you pass through the ticket office, the large garden is not only a task of beauty. It is not only a space for the viewer to feel intuition and leisure in entering the countryside, but also functions as a device to show the proper food production process. Today, only cabbage and a few kinds of herbs are ready to be harvested, but until recently it was said to have been a green field full of green barley.

Make sausages, feed veal milk, and enjoy popular programs
The structure of the upper and lower farms is simpler than you think. It is a workshop that produces foods honestly with ingredients given by nature, stores where you can buy homemade foods, restaurants where you can eat healthy meals, experience classes where you can make ice cream or sausages, and various animals. There are five major categories, including animal farms that can communicate with each other. Among them, the experience class is required to make a reservation in advance, which is the usual order of making a phone call two to three days in advance and making a payment on the spot.
Experience Class B Building with Sausage Experience
There are four types of food experience: sausage, cookies, blueberry crumble cake, and glutinous rice cake. The time required is 40 to 50 minutes, but sausages and crumble cakes require additional processing time such as smoking and baking. You don't have to sit back and wait. You can freely visit the farm and return to the station to get your ticket.
Sausage making process: take the sausage ingredients
Prices range from 10,000 won to 15,000 won per person. You can make a reservation only in an even number because the ingredients are provided for one set of two servings. Adults can enter as a child's assistant for free, so please ask in advance for permission.
Sausage making process: Sprinkle starch, water, etc. on the minced meat
The most popular thing to try is the sausage making. On the weekends with crowds, the class is held three times a day in the classroom B.
The process of making sausages: knead by hand
One day before the experience, the farmers grind pork and prepare the ground, so participants can simply add the starch flour, parsley and water and knead the meat once again into the sheep casing.
Sausage making process: put meat in the filling body
The training is undertaken by the farm. If you wait 30 minutes, you can pick up delicious casings that are juicy and fill your mouth every time you bite the casing.
Sausage making process: inject the contents into the sheep casing
Because the process of putting kneaded meat in both casings is surprisingly difficult, parents with children under 8 years of age should opt for a milk bread or ice cream experience.
Sausage making process: makes a shape
Even if it is not a paid experience program, you can watch the sausage, bread, fruit and vegetables produced over the glass wall of the studio and keep in mind the importance of safe food.
Bread is made in the bread shop
There is also a way to go inside, but since the operation time of the studio changes according to the order quantity, the time to open the tour road is not known. At that time, it is best to go to the open workshop and check the situation yourself.
Cows spending leisure time at animal farm
You can't miss the experience of feeding hay or milk to the animals. You can feed the animals under the caretaker's care by visiting the animal farms in advance on the website.

The calf is fed milk every hour on an organic ranch just behind the animal farm and is always fresh and warm.

If you miss the feeding experience, don't be disappointed.

Favorite local food of all ages
When the experience is over, we recommend you stop by the farm restaurant for a meal. The top and bottom set meal is a cauldron of Shindongjin rice and stir-fried chicken with 4 kinds of side dishes and 1 kind of soup.
Relaxing scenery of the plantation restaurant
You can take assorted cabbages, lettuce, trout truffles, onion pickles, donkey leaf pickles, and ssamjang at the self-table. On this day, uncooked egg stew, plain and savory soybean paste, and delicious miso soup were the first to be sure.
Delicious top and bottom set meal
The advantage of a farm restaurant is to transparently disclose the ingredients and cooking process. The origin of all ingredients is domestic and most of them are grown and grown in Gochang, including 9-minute sea bream and fresh meat delivered by farmers, side dishes made with seasonal ingredients, and long-lasting miso. Anyone can see through the open kitchen how these ingredients become a dish.
Self table at the side of the restaurant
Seeing various vegetables, such as chicory, red lettuce, and kale, grown in a glass greenhouse on the second floor, doubles your faith and attachment to food. Some of the crops grown in glass greenhouses and open-air gardens are also used as food ingredients for farm-style restaurants and Western-style kitchens.
Hearty wraps with vegetables
If you are planning an experiential trip with young children, take note. The Sangha Farm is adjacent to the old Sipo Port and is suitable as a one-day course to look around the farm and the sea. The parking lot is large, and the restaurant and restroom are equipped with baby chairs, diaper changing tables, and small toilet seat covers for children. If you need to travel long distances to Seoul or Gyeonggi-do, stay at Farmers Village, a farm accommodation facility. Opened in 2017, the facilities are clean.
