'Gojangnan-gil', which embroiders Kimnyeong village, is a Jeju dialect, meaning 'flowering path'. Sea breezes and sea water flow in the villages, and metal crafts that look wonderful as time goes by bears the warmth.

Jeju sea is always new. The moment you see the mysterious color, it's likely that fluttering will happen. Jeju's pretty beach is lined with hostels and cafes overlooking the sea. Another way to meet Jeju sea is to walk slowly along the coastline.

Gimnyeong, the starting point for Olle 20 course, north of Jeju, is a quiet village with emerald sea. In winter 2014, the change began in an ordinary town where travelers are sparse. Metal art murals were made naturally as if in a village.

You can find metal crafts about 3km from the beginning of Olle 20 course to Seongseon Beach. White wings emerged from the blunt cement walls, and whales seemed to jump into the sea right now on the black stone walls. The works of Haenyeo, Gimnyeong Village, which consists of Manjanggul Cave, Cheongsugul Cave, Yacht and Wind, are included in each piece.

The house is remodeled as a farm house, and the outside is used as a workshop for metal crafts. It is run by Nam Hyun-kyung, the artist who planned the streets of Gimnyeong.

She majored in metal crafts at university, and her dream was to have a workshop in front of the sea, which she settled here two years ago.

At first, it was a cold village, but curious seniors often visited with vegetables or fruits, and she began to tell her story. Indulged in the charm of the village, the writer searched for warming the neighborhood and chose what he could do best.

Painting murals are well peeled off by rain and wind and may look heterogeneous, so I chose achromatic metal as a material. In his mind, Nam wanted to make a mural that penetrated the landscape naturally. The village secretariat and the Rural Development Corporation were persuaded for nine months to complete the “Trouble Road Project. As a result, 34 works embroidered the village from the end of October to mid-December 2014.

At first, the village elders did not have the opposition. I didn't know the metalwork itself, and most of all, I had to pierce the walls of my old house. But I was satisfied with the finished mural.

12 artists participated in the project. It was recruited through SNS, and was introduced to the artist by knowing through school seniors and juniors. Gimnyeong is a seaside village, and its works are mostly made of copper rather than iron because the works can be quickly destroyed by the influence of sea breeze and seawater. “Iron is corroded, but copper is colored. The copper is red at first, but as time goes by, the green color rises. The emerald work creates another mood. This is also an attraction of metal crafts. Copper is twice as expensive as iron, but it is more economical because it costs no maintenance and repair.

Leave the project again and walk near the sea. On a wall, we discover Chu-sky's work, Island Kid. It is a work that expresses the strong mother and haenyeo of Jeju. Lee Hyun-jung's <Cantabile>, which means that fish are harmonized in the life of a haenyeo according to the sound of the sea, is as beautiful as a soft coastline. After this piece, the grandfather is drying up the starfish in the courtyard of an old house. I lived in this village for a lifetime and was bored. One day, a mural blooming like a spring flower is pleasing and the calm change makes me feel happy.

There are many works that portray Haenyeo, but it is a different feeling when faced with garlic artist 'Wonder HaeNyeo'. I wanted to break down the prejudice against the female divers by expressing the female divers as a wonder woman. “I think Haenyeo is a person who is doing hard work. Especially, women in Gimnyeong are strong, blunt and clunky. Because the land was so poor that I had to make material, and because of the wind and the sound of the waves, I was short and thick when I spoke. The girls and girls I met face to face with exciting music, fun work, and warmth for strangers. I wanted to express it cheerfully that the women were forced to be strong. ”

In addition to the walls, there are also works that look more detailed when you look up. Lee Jung-geun's Blue Water Glass (Let's Go) is located on a stone wall. In the form of webtoons, it was a fun way to express blue water, a healing water for sick people, a swimming pool for local children, and a spring water for farmers to relax with cows.

Lee Sung-sik's <Walk the Road> contains the mysterious legend of Duruksan, which shows off the sea in Gimyeong. It tells the legend of Durucksan that the grandmother she met on the road is always in the water.

Did you walk for about 2 hours? It stands in front of a work that tells the story of Gimnyeong's specialties and the wind. The story of Kim Ning, who is told by the murals, seems to tickle her.

Deep in the village, it is filled with works that allow the elderly to feel the wisdom and old fashion of Jeju. The broken roads throughout the seasons will make the town more daunting.
