Ojukheon · Gangneung Creative Artist Village → Gangneung Olympic Museum → Chondang Tofu → Dison Science Museum at Charmsori Gramophone → Missionary Leaders / Monthly Party Kim Si-Sung Memorial Hall

The role of Shinsaimdang plays a large role in making Gangneung a place of culture and art. Looking around Ojukheon and Yulgok Memorial Hall, I am glad to discover Shinsaimdang, an artist who is superior to Yulgok's mother, Sinsaimdang. If you continue to Gangneung Creative Artist Village and Oriental Embroidery Museum located on the side of Ojukheon, you will meet artists of the past and today, and you will be imbued with artistic sensibility.
Many sights are scattered across Gyeongpo Lake. You can feel the importance of our traditional culture at the mission field and the Monthly Kim Si-Sung Memorial Hall, and at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics PR Experience Center, you can feel the excitement of the past Pyeongchang Olympic Games.
Munseongsa Temple on the front and Mongryongsil on the left
Shinsaimdang, a pronoun of the current mother-in-law who raised and raised Yulgok Ii, was proficient in poetry and painting, and was also called a genius painter in his day. Ojukheon is the home of Shinsaimdang, where Yulgok Ii was born.
Mongryongsil where Shinsaimdang gave birth to Yulgok teacher
Yongin Lee's mother, Yongin Lee, had only five daughters, and her second daughter, Shinsaimdang, married her mother even after her marriage. As Shinsaimdang died in her husband's place, Pyeongan-do, Yulgok took over his mother's maternal grandmother. Yongin Lee inherited Seoul's tiled house and full answer to Yulgok teacher as a legacy, and gave Oh Jok-heon and full answer to another grandson, Kwon Cheo-gyun. After seeing the black bamboo trees that formed the forest around the house, Kwon Cheo-gyun called his name Ojukheon, and later became the name of the house.
Ojukheon Sarangchae is the original
The room where Yulgok was born was called Mongryongsil because he dreamed of a dragon and conceived a son. The building and Sarangchae are intact and the rest are restored. Trees have a history in Ojukheon, including the 600-year-old Plum Tree Yulgokmae next to the Mongryongsil, the 600-year-old Baron Tree, and the old pine trees in front of Munseongsa and the forest surrounding the house. Yulgok Memorial Hall, Folk Folklore Museum, Solhyang Luxury Shop, and Gangneung City Museum are all in one place with Ojukheon.
Super-high-fidelity media art displayed at Yulgok Memorial Hall
Just a 3-minute walk from Ojukheon Parking Lot is Gangneung Creative Artist Village and Oriental Embroidery Museum. By remodeling the closed school, small studios gathered to form Gangneung Creative Artists Village on the first floor, and the second floor decorated the Oriental Embroidery Museum showing the simple beauty of life embroidery on hand. The Oriental Embroidery Museum displays high-quality traditional embroidery works and props from three countries: Korea, China, and Japan.
Gangneung Creative Artists Village with unique artists
At the Korean Embroidery Exhibition Hall, you will notice the Gangneung Traditional Embroidery Corner. The eyes of Subojagi and the quilting of the yarn are very close. It is also worth seeing the pillows piled up neatly, and the works expressing the super fidelity of Sinsamdang in embroidery.
Gangneung colored thread quilting at the Oriental Embroidery Museum
In Gangneung Creative Artist Village, there are distinctive spaces along the shoulders, including gyubang for embroidery and sewing, painting studios, pottery, and a workshop full of cute accessories. There are many things you can experience for about 30 minutes to an hour. The advantage is that you can create your own works that are not anywhere in the world.
Various artistic experiences are also available at the Creative Artist Village.
The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Gangneung were held on ice. There is a Gangneung Olympic Museum near Gyeongpoho where you can feel the excitement of the last Pyeongchang Olympics again. The exhibition hall, composed of five themes, recycles used containers to capture the meaning of the Environment Olympics. The container is painted in blue, red, yellow, green, and black in accordance with the color of the five-wheel mark, and is lightly bright.
Gangneung Olympic Museum
The Olympics compete for ranking in a total of 15 events, 7 events in snow, 3 events in sliding, and 5 events in ice. Dynamic shaped sculptures that represent each item attract attention. The equipment attached to the sculptures such as sticks, goggles, and helmets is more realistic by using what the national team actually used.
At the 4D Experience Center, you can watch videos by selecting a few of the events such as ski jumping, bobsleigh, snowboarding, and alpine skiing. When the ski lands on the slope, the chair shakes and feels the wind, creating an illusion that you are actually playing. Experience the ski jump in VR (virtual reality), and it is also vividly unfolded in front of you. The facility is also fun, allowing visitors to experience curling matches by throwing stones. There are many things to see, including Gyeongpo Aquarium, Gangneung Green City Experience Center, and Heo Gyun and Heonan Seolsaeng Birthplace.
PyeongChang Olympics achieved through unified passion

The representative food of Gangneung is Chodang Sundubu. There is the birthplace of Heo Gyun and Henan Seolheon near Gyeongpoho. Heo Gyun's father's call was Chodang, so I guess the place originated there. In Chodang Village, there are about 30 restaurants that make tofu directly from generation to generation. Clean seawater is used as a gansu, but the taste of tofu varies slightly from house to house. The soft and tofu of tofu is simmered so as not to harm the original taste. The taste that goes smoothly without chewing is the lightness itself. If it's fresh, you can mix it with the seasoning. A bowl of tofu is perfect for children who don't eat spicy and spicy food for a meal.

The Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum is a collection of representative inventions of the phonograph and Edison. It has more Edison phonographs than the Edison Museum in the United States. Of the 4,000 phonographs made in over 30 countries, 3,500, 150,000 records, and 5,000 music-related books are packed with music, so it's hard to see which one is important. You can look around individually, but it is much more enjoyable to listen to the exhibition commentary as the professional staff will tell you about the exhibits and episodes.

Light Bulb Invented by Edison
It is divided into the Charmsori Gramophone Museum and the Edison Science Museum. The phonograph museum is divided into 1 exhibition hall featuring a trumpet phonograph, 2 exhibition halls with cabinet-type phonographs, 3 exhibition halls mainly exhibited by music boxes, and radio and TV exhibition halls. A trumpet gramophone with a large trumpet shaped like a flower is often associated with a phonograph. There are a lot of things that look good when you put on a record and connect it to a power source, as if beautiful music would be played right away.
The volume of collections such as gramophones and music boxes is enormous.
The Edison Science Museum is a collection of exhibitions on light, collections on sound, and household items and inventions. After many trials and errors, Edison's light bulb is one of the most important inventions in human history. The number of light bulbs on display, including the first carbon light bulbs, is about 500. Without Edison, housework would have been much more intense than it is now. Coffee pots, toasters, waffles, ovens, irons, sewing machines, mixers, microwave ovens, and hair dryers are said to have been invented by Edison for his wife. The end of the tour ends with sitting in comfortable seats and listening to beautiful music. In the building next door, there is Son Sung-mok Movie, Radio, and TV Museum with a variety of movie-related collections.

The mission field was built by Narayon, the eleventh generation of Hyoryeongdaegun (the elder brother of King Sejong the Great), and is a high-class house in the Joseon Dynasty, with the typical appearance of a father-in-law. It has been preserved in its original form without damage to the teenagers over 300 years. It is said that Nae-Bun, who was looking for a home, followed a weasel and fell in love with an early forest.
The lawn of the mission field
In fact, the pine forest, which is the background of the mission field, is a charming forest where you want to rest for a long time under the shade of a tree with beautiful pine trees. You have to look around the house first and then walk through the forest at the end to taste the mission field evenly.
High towering gates and chimneys stand out
First look around the relics exhibition hall. More than 300 valuable artifacts that were collected in the mission field or used in daily life are displayed. Among the stately buildings, the Pirate Party with an exotic terrace in front was the main residence of the missionary male master. The terrace was given as a gift from the Russian construction. When you pass the wide lawn in front of the mission field, you can see the square pond and the bower Jeongnaejeong standing on the bridge at the entrance. It is especially worth seeing in the summer when the lotus is in full bloom, but it is a space that can be enjoyed at any time of the year. The style of old scholars who would have read a book alone or called a friend to pour a drink is reminiscent of itself.
The Hwahwadang, the residence of the male master
The mission field is a hanokstay that is open to the public for travelers to stay. It is also a special experience to feel the whispering of an old-fashioned house in the morning or early morning when all visitors leave and all sides are calm.

Every month, Kim Si-seop is the first Korean literary novel, Geumo Myth. It is said that Kim Si-woop was so unique that he read after 8 months of birth, wrote his first poem at the age of 3, and wrote a poem in front of King Sejong at the age of 5 to receive 50 silks.
Kim Si-Sup Memorial Hall, which was built every month
Inside the compact memorial hall, there is an animation corner that produced video images of the life and gold myths of Lee Seong-kyu's photo zone and Kim Si-seop. You can see the book 《Moondangdangjip》, which contains poetry, writings, and works, and Mukmaedo drawn by hand. It is about 200m from the mission field.
