A gourmet trip to a small town in Yangpyeong

Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Korea

When you exit Seojong IC, you will see a village called Munho-ri, Seojong-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, located along the Bukhan River. At first glance, it doesn't look much different from the surrounding area, but if you look closely, there are treasure-like spaces hidden everywhere. That's why Moon Ho-ri is also called “Hot Place” that emerges from Yangpyeong. There are natural yeast bakeries and Japanese kaiseki cuisine shops that seem to fit into downtown Seoul, and Terrarosa in Gangneung, which is famous for word of mouth nationwide, has also opened in this neighborhood.

Coffee meeting with Nordic Cultural Center, Terra Rosa, Yangpyeong
Terrarosa opened in a different atmosphere from Terrarosa Coffee Factory in Gangneung, Munho-ri, Seojong-myeon, Yangpyeong.
The building exterior with red brick and white walls is impressive.

You can taste coffee and bread with the same flavor as you had in Gangneung, and the North European Cultural Center is located on the second floor, making it even more special.
A complex cultural ball where you can experience Nordic culture and design together
Most recognize this place simply as Terra Rosa, but there are several spaces in it.
Inside Yangpyeong Terra Rosa
It is a factory-type complex cultural space where the Nordic Cultural Center aiming to serve as a platform for Nordic culture and Nordic Design Gallery co-exist Vint.

The small garden overlooking through the large front window and the Nordic culture felt everywhere makes a sip of coffee here more special.

Ginsburg, honest bread taste without greed
Even in Yangpyeong, it was purely this small bakery that first turned to Munjong-ri, Seojong-myeon. Ginsburg's unique bakery. The words 'no butter, no milk, no sugar' on the signboard caught my eye. When you visit Ginsburg on the morning of the weekend, you will often encounter the scenery where residents of Munho-ri come together to enjoy a cup of coffee with delicious bread. In Munho-ri, where many “semi-urbans” want to enjoy their rural life while commuting to Seoul, Ginsburg is playing a role in the neighborhood love room. On the morning of the weekend, people and locals who come to taste the bread in the countryside mix variously in this small bakery.

Ginsberg sells healthy bread in small portions a day
The history of a young male boss, who worked as a marketer in Tokyo, Japan, entered a small town in Yangpyeong and produced a natural yeast bakery, is unique. Because only a few kinds of bread are baked in small portions a day, it is easy to stir up a little late on the weekends. Some people have tried 3 or 4 or 7 to eat Ginsburg's bread. President Ginsburg, who uses natural yeast instead of yeast to make only a fixed amount per day, seems greedy. We open the store door only five days a week (Wednesday to Sunday) and close it early if the bread is sold out. Where is that? In the winter, he dares to close the door for a month or two and then travels. It is closed this year from the end of January to February 28th. So if you want to visit Ginsburg, you have to wait until March 1st.

Square sky, a house that restores the happiness of a relaxing meal
Ginsburg's owner recommends 'Square Sky', saying, “There is a place in this neighborhood where the taste of udon is amazing.” A little uphill from the Bukhangangro running along the river leads to a square sky in a quiet space.
There is a square sky that is perfect for the name of the store.
It has already been in place for over 10 years, but it hasn't had a booming reputation. Still, people come from mouth to mouth by knowing.
An attractive space that looks like a combination of Korean and Japanese architectural beauty

Run by a Japanese architect's husband and a Korean wife, Square Sky is an authentic Japanese Kaiseki cuisine restaurant.

Because it is operated by reservation system, there are not many guests in the large space. When you walk on the floor, the creak sounds calm and peaceful enough to fill your ears. You can never find the hustle and bustle of a typical restaurant.

It is an atmosphere where you can focus on the food in front of you and the person who is with you. Let's fully enjoy the pleasure of a laid-back meal that was not enjoyed in a busy daily life.

Although it is a Japanese restaurant specializing in Kaiseki cuisine, it is usually eaten with a lot of sukiyaki (Japanese dishes similar to shabu shabu) and udon set meals.

The price is high, but if you look at the enthusiasm that goes into food one by one, most of them don't cost much.
Clean and tasty food in the sky
In the case of sukiyaki, some people are somewhat uncomfortable because they cook all the food on their side. But let's understand that it is the owner's sincerity to take care of the food so that customers can eat the food as deliciously as possible.

The udon set meal is usually not a udon with soup, but a soy sauce. The chewy texture is attractive.

A bowl of simple red bean porridge warmth, red bean porridge
When you run on the North Korean road in Munho-ri, you will see the sign “Munho-ri Red Bean Porridge”. This is a place where the taste of red bean porridge that floats in the eggs is excellent.

It is not thick and sweet red bean porridge. You can enjoy the taste of the real red bean porridge boiled with only red beans without starch.

Since it uses only domestic red beans and is made without liver, the original taste of red beans is felt. Salt and sugar are prepared separately, so you can control the liver according to your taste.

In addition to red bean porridge, you can also taste Jeolla-do red bean kalguksu, perilla sujebi, and ulken kalguksu. A bowl of red bean porridge boiled for a long time will warm the inside.
